Just days after splitting from Netflix, Nancy Meyers’ next film may have found a new home.

Sources tell Deadline that Warner Bros is in early talks to acquire the project. Sources emphasize that there is no agreement and that the talks are exploratory, but they add that there is some truth and discussions have begun on various details.

Deadline reported Tuesday that the film would be leaving Netflix after the studio pulled the plug over budget concerns. Meyers quickly relocated to take the project to other studios, and Warner Bros looks like the front-runner to land the film. Meyers will write and direct the project, but it’s unknown if the all-star cast will still be there; She’s been in talks with Scarlett Johansson, Penelope Cruz, Owen Wilson and Michael Fassbender to play the lead role, but since that was the plan when Meyers had a much bigger budget, it’s unknown if those actors will remain engaged.

Deadline reported Tuesday that a key reason Netflix was unplugged was its budget of over $130 million, more than half of which went to talent. It’s not known if a budget was worked out with Warner Bros., but it’s expected to be a lot less than that initial number.

The film, currently titled Paris Paramount, which we first told you about in April 2022, tells the story of an outstanding filmmaking duo who (reluctantly) reunite on set after falling in and out of love.

Warner Bros and Meyers have close ties, with the studio collaborating with her on her most recent project, The Intern, starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. When Paris Paramount left Netflix, many in the city seemed to be suggesting that the Burbank studio could be the likely landing spot, and all signs are pointing to it coming together.
