Ex-MAFS producer reveals juicy show secrets in Reddit AMA

From ‘made-up’ storylines, dramatic dinner parties to the worst movie scenes, the ex-MAFS producer shares juicy show secrets in the Reddit AMA

A former Married At First Sight producer has spilled the beans and revealed some of the show’s most explosive secrets.

In an open AMA thread on Reddit, the former producer said the team is encouraged to “magnify and amplify” any drama for the cameras to encourage contestants to save drama for the dinner parties, and revealed the worst scenes , which involved the families of the reality stars.

When asked if scenes in the show were “made up,” the mysterious former producer said the storylines should be spiced up.

“I wouldn’t say it’s completely fabricated, but it’s the job of post-production to turn a storyline or scene that was maybe a 6 or 7 out of 10 into an 11 out of 10. “Magnify and amplify” is a phrase that gets used a lot in all reality TV,” they explained.

In another post, they said the producers encouraged contestants to vent their frustrations at the dinner party and “when they all sit down.”

“A big example is the dinner party, you want all the big drama to happen after they’re seated. So you make sure that happens by telling them not to talk about certain things until they sit down,” they said.

They added that working with a contestant’s family is a “punishment” as they often try to avoid any drama.

“Everything with the families is a punishment because most of them can hardly string a sentence together. They also tend to either ignore or derail the main story we’re following,” they explained.

“It never ceases to amaze me why they find people living so far apart,” they began.

“It’s not so bad for young people starting out, though [impossible] People in their thirties who have made careers. They’re already stuck and that only adds to the conflict.’

Another viewer said: “Yep! And putting Lyndall, who needs constant specialist care, with someone who’s been living in the bush for months was just plain stupid.

“You should at least match people who live in the same state,” wrote a third fan.

It has since been revealed that Lyndall had an affair with Josh White after the show, which reportedly ended on bad terms.
