The former leader of the Parti Québécois has been serving a sentence of two years less a day since July 2022 for two sexual assaults committed on men in 2014 and 2015.
Boisclair, who suffered two denials last November to secure his release, believes he has made sufficient progress after being detained for just a few months, according to the Quebec Commission on Conditional Releases.
However, his thinking has “evolved” since then, the commission noted in an eight-page document detailing the various therapeutic approaches of the former politician, who will celebrate his 57th birthday next month.
