She and her husband, Jarbas Homem de Mello, had tried to conceive a child through in vitro fertilization, but it didn’t work. The couple had decided against another IVF cycle.
Then the actress became pregnant naturally. According to Claudia Raia, the doctors were stunned.

According to Elizabeth Sarah Ginsburg, a reproductive endocrinologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, a woman her age is “less than 1 percent” likely to conceive naturally. The specialist did not treat Ms. Raia.
Claudia Raia was 55 when she conceived her child. She gave birth at the age of 56.
dr Ginsburg explains that according to the data, a 44-year-old woman is less than 2% likely to bring home a baby from an IVF cycle.
The risk of a miscarriage after the age of 45 is around 80 percent, adds the endocrinologist.
On February 11, Raia and her husband welcomed a little boy named Luca. Raia already has adult children from her previous marriage.
