Family decimated in Beauce: major mobilization to keep farm afloat

Beauce Farmer, friends and relatives of the family decimated in a clash in Adstock stick together to ensure the continued existence of the couple’s dairy business while the survivors recover.

“There were about ten people working on the farm this morning. It is heart warming to see all the help they are receiving during this difficult time,” says Stéphane Demers, a local farmer.

For 48 hours, the entire community of Adstock and the surrounding area has been offering their help to the family affected by the tragedy and would like to support them in every way.

Henrik Asselin, the 42-year-old man who died in a duel in Saint-Frédéric with his 12-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter on Wednesday, owned the farm Alaska Dairy Inc. with his spouse.

She is still in the hospital, as are two other children of hers who are still in critical condition.

There is no denying that the message of solidarity that Adstock Mayor Pascal Binet shared on social media when he heard about the tragedy was certainly heard.

“Dawn has broken and what distinguishes it today is the organization of the help. […] I can tell you people are touched and extremely generous,” he wrote, claiming to have “received offers [d’aide] several”.

The community had also organized a vigil at the Saint-Méthode church on Thursday evening to reflect on and confront this ordeal. Psychological support has also been used in the schools attended by the couple’s children.

“It really touched everyone here. We do everything for it [la mère de famille] doesn’t need anything when she comes home,” explains Mr. Demers.
