Sharon Stone in tears between tumors and economic woes: “I lost half my money”

“I just lost half my money on this bank thing, but I’m still here.” To get straight to the point, at the ‘An Unforgettable Evening’ charity gala hosted by Women’s Cancer in Beverly Hills Research Fund is Sharon Stone, who Paris Match reports referred to the Four Seasons stage on a “banking matter” most likely related to the recent collapse of the Silicon Valley bank. The American star was honored last Thursday and took the stage in the Four Seasons Ballroom to accept his Courage Award. The actress then delivered a moving speech that was overwhelmed with emotion. The 65-year-old star spoke first and got the crowd laughing. But laughter soon gave way to tears as Sharon Stone reflected on the benign tumors that were removed from her breast in 2001 prior to reconstructive breast plastic surgery. “These mammograms aren’t fun,” she said, encouraging her audience to monitor their health and get regular check-ups.

Last November, the actress announced that doctors had found another benign tumor, this time in her uterus. With tears in his eyes, Stone asked for donations at the time, despite the economic crisis. “And right now, it’s guts too, because I know firsthand what’s going on,” he admitted. The actress also ended her speech by remembering the death of her brother Patrick, who died last month from heart disease. «My brother just died – he said again through tears -. It’s not an easy time for any of us. It’s a difficult time in the world, but I’m telling you, I’m not asking any politician to tell me what I can and can’t do. How I can and cannot live, and what the value of my life is or is not. So get up. Get up and say what you’re worth. I dare you. That’s courage.” Not an easy moment for the Basic Instinct actress.
