After a week’s absence, Formula 1 is back with the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the second race of the 2023 season. Dutchman Max Verstappen, reigning world champion, is one of the favorites to win after his triumphant debut in Bahrain. Now he has to settle for 15th on the grid after a poor qualifying race.

First place on the grid goes to his teammate, the Mexican Sergio Pérez. ‘Checo’ took pole position after finishing ahead of Monegasque Charles Leclerc, who finished second, and Spain’s Fernando Alonso, who completed the podium.
