Nick Carter has claimed he has witnesses who will refute a woman’s claim that he sexually assaulted her in the early 2000s.

The 43-year-old Backstreet Boy has filed new legal documents, according to TMZ, in which he claims he has a dozen witnesses who will swear the alleged victim’s charges are “virtually impossible.”

Shannon Ruth filed a lawsuit for $30,000 on December 2, 2022, accusing the Larger Than Life singer of taking her to his bus, dousing her with alcohol, forcing her to perform oral sex, and then raping her. The alleged incident happened in 2001 when she was 17 and a minor.

Ruth also claims she contracted a sexually transmitted infection, human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, from the alleged attack, having previously been a virgin.

The woman claimed she met Nick while waiting in line to get autographs.

She has also stated that she is autistic and has cerebral palsy.

For his part, the Billboard Music Award winner claims that there was no autograph line on the day in question and that fans were not allowed access to the buses, and that fans, security personnel and a talent manager will testify.

The legal documents also allege that a person who was a friend of the accuser at the time said she did not have autism or cerebral palsy.

The witness also reportedly revealed that they don’t believe Shannon was at the concert.

Nick has always denied the allegations and is filing a $2.35 million counterclaim.

It’s the amount of money he and his bandmates have reportedly lost after having to cancel performances and endorsements following allegations of sexual assault.

He and his legal team allege that Shannon was manipulated by a father and daughter, Jerome and Melissa Schuman, into making the false claims in order to blackmail him.

Former member of the group Dream, Melissa Schuman claimed she met Nick while they were making the 2002 film The Hollow, and published her allegations in a since-deleted 2017 blog post.

Nick denied the allegations and the Los Angeles District Attorney did not pursue a criminal case because the statute of limitations had expired, according to CNN.

The incomplete artist also claims Shannon’s former legal team pulled out after his information was presented to him.

At the time of the filing, Nick’s attorney, Michael Holtz, told TMZ, “As our counterclaim details, Nick was the target of a malicious and long-running conspiracy.”

‘He never did the outrageous things he was accused of;’ The lawyer wrote: “Indeed he is the victim of a calculated and concerted disinformation campaign aimed at destroying his reputation.”

“He looks forward to presenting the truth, defending himself in court and putting a definitive end to the slanders and attempted shakedowns.”
