A violent reaction from the police Shutdown of the top drive for descents on Sunday evening at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
A post from the airport said Port of Seattle police were examining a package at the ticket level in the terminal “out of caution.” The passengers warned by the airport may experience rerouting for departures and ticketing.
Two suspicious bags were found at the airport ticket counter on Sunday night, Transportation Security Administration spokesman Gervais Joubert said. Bomb technicians and the Port of Seattle Police Department responded, and the north section of the airport was evacuated, Joubert said.
Security Checkpoints 3, 4 and 5 have been closed. A Federal Aviation Administration website showed there was a ground stop for planes until 7:45 p.m
Port of Seattle spokesman Peter McGraw said there was no danger to passengers and operations at the airport resumed just before 7:30 p.m
The airport advised travelers to allow extra time on Sunday evening. Alaska Airlines recommended Travelers check their flight status before arriving at the airport.
A bomb disposal robot was seen walking into the terminal. At around 6:50 p.m., a Port of Seattle Police officer pushed everyone back from the police line.
“Everyone please go back, there will be a small boom,” he said. An announcement over a loudspeaker also warned that an explosion could occur.
