Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly locked in a “squabble” over their eldest son Prince George’s planned appearance at the “more inclusive” King Charles coronation on May 6.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are “concerned it may be too much for the 9-year-old”, according to royal commentator Tom Quinn.

The author of ‘Gilded Youth: A History of Growing Up in the Royal Family’ revealed his torrid attitude to the British Express on Sunday, claiming that ‘there is a bit of a dispute going on as to whether George should play a more formal role’. the official coronation of King Charles, 74.

Quinn claimed that William, 40, and Middleton, 41, were concerned about George’s role and hoped it would not paint a negative image of the child in the public eye.

The author also noted that the couple are uneasy about George’s role as they feel their son may be too young to take on more royal duties.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their family will attend the coronation of King Charles on May 6th. Prince George’s formal role during King Charles’ coronation has caused concern among his parents.

“It’s almost an echo of the way William and [Prince] Harry sometimes had to attend formal occasions they shouldn’t have attended,” Quinn said, referring to how William and his younger brother, 38, made many royal commitments in their younger years.

The Post has reached out to palace officials for comment on Quinn’s allegations.

One of the most famous events that a teenage William and an adolescent Harry endured was their mother Princess Diana’s funeral in 1997.

The brothers were seen walking behind her coffin alongside the rest of the royal family.

“A lot of people have criticized that and said it was a terrible thing to bring up two boys that young, and Harry in particular,” Quinn said.

He continued, “I think people remember that and think, ‘Wait a minute, if George is sort of a page boy or has a similar role at the coronation, does that go too far back in the traditional roles? ‘”

“How this is done is currently the subject of heated debate. And from what I’ve heard, it’s still undecided,” Quinn claimed.

George and his younger sister Princess Charlotte, as well as their youngest brother Prince Louis, have made several official appearances in recent years.

George and Charlotte, 7, attended the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth last September and also performed at her platinum anniversary in June.

They also served as pageboys and flower girls at Harry and his wife Meghan Markle’s wedding in 2018.

British outlets reported on Saturday the leaked plans, which show the children’s proposed roles at the coronation.

Plans indicated George, Charlotte and Louis, 5, will join William and Middleton in a carriage behind a Gold State Coach transporting Charles and Camilla, Queen Consort.
