The Ontarian wore the colors of CH for 36 games in the 1972-1973 and 1973-1974 seasons. He then worked for the St. Louis Blues, California Seals, Cleveland Barons and Philadelphia Flyers.
In 350 National League games, Gardner had 75 hits and 115 assists for 190 points.
The Toronto native was picked by the Canadians in the first round (eighth overall) of the 1972 draft. The Habs traded him to the Blues in March 1974 for a first round selection at that year’s amateur auction.
