Texans sign ex-Cowboys TE Dalton Schultz, ex-Bills RB Devin Singletary – NFL.com

Houston adds some firepower on offense.

The Texans sign former Cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz and former Bills running back Devin Singletary, NFL Network insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, sources reported Monday.

Schultz’s contract is for one year and is valued at up to $9 million per Pelissero.

Singletary also signs a one-year deal worth up to $3.75 million per Rapoport.

The two signings hope to bolster an offense that ranks 30th in the league in terms of points scored. Both of these newcomers could help a rookie quarterback if he chooses to go in that direction with the #2 pick in the 2023 NFL draft.

The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Schultz saw his performance decline for Dallas last season after the team missed him the franchise tag in 2022. The 26-year-old Schultz still managed to catch 57 passes for 577 yards and five points in 15 regular season games and was arguably best all along the stretch and in the playoffs, catching 12 passes for 122 yards and three points in two postseason games caught.

Singletary, 25, has spent all four NFL seasons in Buffalo, leading the team in a hurry each time. However, with the emergence of runner-up James Cook in 2022, his role began to diminish somewhat over time.

In 2022, Singletary rushed 177 times for 819 yards and five TDs, added 38 catches for 280 yards and one point tally. He is expected to work in the backfield with Dameon Pierce, who was a standout rookie last year with 939 rushing yards and four TDs in 13 games before missing the final four games of the season with an ankle injury.
