Alessandro Sallusti, director of Libero, is among the guests of the March 20 episode of Quarta Repubblica, the Monday night talk show hosted by Nicola Porro. The first topic the journalist takes up is the war between Russia and Ukraine on the day that Xi Jinping, President of China, visited Vladimir Putin, for whom an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court is pending: “I think that “No Westerner can let a head of state take 10,000 children and take them away. You can’t ignore what really happened. But the Ukrainians want to fight and not become Russians, that – he reminds those who are against sending arms to Kiev – is not exactly secondary”.

Sallusti then angers the left for excessive criticism of the centre-right majority: “You have governed for ten years but you have not come up with anything, so take it out on Giorgia Meloni’s government. Because with you – he says of the Covid pandemic – 25,000 people have died in government and nobody has counted them! Bella Ciao is back because the left must show they are fighting for liberation. But what do you want to liberate this country that you have ruled for 10 years?”. These statements came in particular as a reaction to Eliana Como, who represents the anti-capitalist wing of the union in the CGIL and is also critical of Maurizio Landini, who stressed during the program that “Bella Ciao is the song of resistance for me it could be the anthem of this land and it should belong to everyone.”
