The ESPN network learned this on Monday.
Goodell is expected to get his new deal next week at a scheduled owners meeting in Phoenix. It appears this makes the 64-year-old the highest-paid commissioner in the world.
A native of Jamestown, New York, he has been in office since August 2006 and has had his contract renewed three times. His current contract ends in March 2024.
Goodell and his circle recently reached an agreement with the Players Association on a new collective bargaining agreement. The NFL has also signed new agreements for its television rights with broadcasters CBS, NBC, FOX and ESPN, as well as internet giant Amazon. The value of these contracts would be more than $100 billion.
