This is the best start of the year for a Quebec film. The feature film about the life of Victoire Du Sault, the first woman to be a shoemaker in Quebec, was shown on 64 screens in the province.
“We are very pleased with these results,” said La Cordonnière distributor Christian Larouche of Films Opale on Monday.
“Cinema in Québec is really on the rise. It started with the holiday season hit December 23rd and continued this year with Katak, the brave Beluga, The Diver, Coco Farm, Twilight for a Killer and now The Shoemaker. It is very encouraging to see audiences returning to see Quebec films in theaters. »
$750,000 for The piston
A month after its release, the animated film Katak, the brave Beluga continues to lure (family) audiences into the dark chambers of the province. The feature film ranks 8th at the Quebec box office this weekend and has grossed $1,341,313 to date.

Francis Leclerc’s drama The Diver, also released in late February, has just surpassed $750,000 at the box office and peaked at number 10 on the charts.

Finally, the thriller Crépuscule pour un tueur, starring Éric Bruneau, found itself in the top 10 for the second straight weekend, grossing $81,151 ($278,256 cumulative).
Unsurprisingly, it’s the sequel to the Hollywood superhero film, Shazam! which topped the Quebec box office last weekend after taking $338,425.
