The Parliamentary Committee of Vietnam deals with judicial affairs

The importance of this sector in ensuring the serious execution of the legal system and fighting corruption and negative phenomena was highlighted by President of Vietnam’s Legislature Vuong Dinh Hue during the opening of debates on Monday.

Dinh Hue pointed to some findings and limitations of the judiciary and urged MPs to focus their questions on the main issues in order to improve the quality of the courts and prosecutors.

In the specific case of the prosecutor’s office, according to the VNA news agency, the speaker of the parliament emphasized that it is necessary to further improve the quality of the exercise of the right to supervise judicial activity in solving criminal cases, especially economic and corruption cases.

The Presidents of the Supreme People’s Court, Nguyen Hoa Binh, and the Chief Prosecutor, Le Minh Tri, are expected to intervene in the interpellation session.

Likewise, Minister of Public Security To Lam and Minister of Justice Le Thang Long, as well as Government Inspector General Doan Hong Phongc, will address the concerns MPs might raise about issues related to the management of these portfolios .

The 21st session of the Standing Committee began on the 15th with the aim of preparing the issues to be discussed in the fifth ordinary session of the National Assembly.

On their first day of business, MPs reviewed the Water Resources Bill and the Tender Bill, both modified.

Intervening in the debates, Dinh Hue suggested that the first of these texts should include the important role of these facilities in disaster prevention and mitigation and complement the concept of flood drainage corridors.

The leader of the group also recommended revising the regulation on the calculation of taxes on water resources and adapting it to the current regulations in this area.

The session of the parliamentary body will also consider and approve Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s proposals to appoint and dismiss ambassadors.
