Former German president Wulff marries his Bettina for the third time

This time is meant to be forever, really. Friends of the couple commented on the third marriage of former German President Christian Wulff to his (ex) wife Bettina to the German newspaper Bild. The 63-year-old couple and the 49-year-old were married in Hanover on Saturday, Wulff’s office confirmed on Tuesday.

The Wulffs have been in the headlines for years. They met in 2006, and in 2008 Christian divorced his then-wife Christiane after 18 years. In March of the same year, the then Prime Minister of Lower Saxony (CDU) married his Bettina, and their son was born in May.

corruption allegations

In 2010, Christian Wulff became Germany’s head of state, but had to resign in 2012 as a result of a corruption scandal. The following year, Bettina broke up with him and started a new relationship.

After Christian was cleared of all charges, the couple grew closer again, and as of 2015, they were officially back together. A church wedding followed.

But in 2018 the relationship broke up again, the Wulffs broke up, Bettina found a new partner.

Three years later everything is back to normal and the Wulffs are a couple – at least for now.
