“Police stations” are just the tip of the iceberg of Chinese meddling in Canada, Safeguard Defenders’ Laura Harth told a parliamentary committee in Ottawa on Monday. It was the Spanish NGO that revealed the existence of Chinese “police stations” in about fifty countries.
Beijing not only has “police”, spies and agents of influence in Canada, but also the military. A curious manifestation of Canadian multiculturalism, Chinese immigrants come together in a coalition of People’s Liberation Army veterans.
The Chinese army is also interfering in Canada.
According to the National Post, the Canada Chinese Veteran’s Society holds meetings where its uniformed members pay tribute to the military that killed more than 500 protesters in Tiananmen Square in 1989 and smothered the fledgling democracy under the communist dictatorship. It is also the same army that Canadian soldiers fought and lost their lives in Korea.
These military immigrants are proud of the values instilled in them by the Chinese communist regime. They practice marching in formations, singing Chinese battle songs and saluting the flag of the People’s Republic of China. Unbelievable, isn’t it? Would we tolerate the Russians doing the same? Besides, would they dare?
Trudeau wanted to help the Chinese army
Even more worryingly, in 2019, Trudeau invited the Chinese military to Canadian Forces Base Petawawa, Ontario, for winter combat training. This emerges from top-secret documents that The Globe and Mail received in a request for information.
Why would Chinese troops want to train in extreme winter conditions? India, a friend of Canada, seems to be one of the few countries where the Chinese army would need such training. China has killed Indian soldiers in several skirmishes in the Ladakh region of the Himalayas between 2020 and 2021.
The training was canceled by Chief of Defense Staff General Jonathan Vance, who was criticized for his decision by Trudeau. China had just jailed two Canadians in retaliation for the arrest of the daughter of a senior Chinese man in Vancouver at Washington’s request.
Documents obtained by The Globe indicate that Canada and China had 18 joint military projects in 2019, with Canada even conducting training for Chinese generals. It’s totally stupid! Such training would serve them to gather information on Canadian military techniques, practices, tactics and strategies that they may one day use against us and our allies.
A public inquiry is urgently needed.
Trudeau’s policy toward an increasingly belligerent and hostile China toward us and our allies is so contradictory as to be suspect.
There is an urgent need for a public parliamentary inquiry into the matter. “Reporter” David Johnson, a close relative of Justin’s family who has also had close ties with China for many years, is certainly not the man to be trusted with the investigation.
