After Open AI paved the way for general public use of Generative Artificial Intelligence and subsequently led to the development of numerous solutions, Open AI has just launched Chat GPT-4. This new paid version allows to interpret both text and images, obtaining better quality results.
80% of professions affected by AI
As technology continues to make rapid advances, many experts are predicting that it will have a huge impact on the way certain jobs are performed. A study by researchers from Open AI, Open Research and the University of Pennsylvania measures the potential impact of AI on 1,000 jobs in the United States.
And the results are amazing: it appears that 8 American workers from 10 of the sectors surveyed would be affected by this new language model. However, to varying degrees. The scientists decided to list the main tasks of each function to see which would be changed the most through the use of AI. According to their calculations, 80% of the companies would see at least 10% of their tasks affected by the use of the chatbot. For 19% of jobs, technology will even have a direct impact on 50% of their jobs!
Convincing results in writing and programming
The tool is proving particularly effective when mobilizing one’s coding and writing skills, raising concerns among workers whose core business is these skills.
Through this prism, the occupations most at risk of this upheaval in the world of work are:

- The journalists
- Simultaneous and legal stenographers
- Public Relations Specialists

The replacement of human activities by AI is even already at work in some companies: large press groups such as Germany’s Axel Springer have decided to delegate certain tasks performed by journalists to AI, including the writing of news. Chat GPT-4 also has the required level for a lawyer as it was ranked in the top 10% of candidates in a mock bar exam.
An impact that is to be expected for GPEC
The results of this study should be taken with caution because, as the authors themselves point out, certain categories of skills or tasks may have been excluded from the calculations. Nevertheless, it can be assumed that the development of this technology will have an impact on the mapping of employment and skills in companies.
And that the key skills reviewed by recruiters will change as technology evolves and its penetration rate in organizations.
