“He is very happy to settle down and find his home. We look forward to spring. Jean-Pierre talks about it every day, he can’t wait to go outside to see his flowers, enjoy his country and his summer,” she explained.

Quebecers hadn’t heard anything about Jean-Pierre Ferland’s health since his hospitalization last February.

His wife wanted to reassure the general public by answering questions from Sophie Durocher, friend and biographer of the Une chance qu’on s’a singer.

She recalled that it was a medication issue that had made the singer unusually upset prior to his hospitalization.

“Something didn’t work, so I called and they picked him up,” she says. It took a month and a week to analyze what was wrong with him, because such an adjustment takes a long time for a man his age. It was very difficult for both of us.”

During his hospitalization, the singer missed his dog, with whom he usually spends a lot of time. “I’ve tried everything so he can see her a little, but pet therapy in hospitals hasn’t been possible since the pandemic,” she laments. But the dog was in the car when he got out of the hospital, so he was happy.”

Since returning to his home in Saint-Norbert, Jean-Pierre Ferland has had the pleasure of receiving visits from some friends and some family members, including his brother who lives nearby. “It brought us closer,” says Julie-Anne Saumur.

The artist enjoyed phoning his good friend Clémence DesRochers over the weekend. “It was nice to hear them talk to each other like that.”

“He knows he is loved, everyone tells him, adds the one who says she is touched by the media and public concerns about Jean-Pierre Ferland’s health. People talk to him more than they used to. I tell him: “Because they love you, my dear.” In the supermarket, people tell him: “Jean-Pierre, you changed my life, I love you!” Even more than before.”

Last summer, on June 24th, his birthday, Jean-Pierre Ferland fell badly. “A really stupid accident,” his wife told the Journal.

Blood had pooled around his lungs after the fall and had to be removed, forcing him to be hospitalized a few weeks later last August.

The singer’s last public appearance dates back to December 17, when he attended the funeral of his friend, the artist Jean Lapointe, at the Saint-Viateur church in Outremont. He then told the Journal that he was “in very good shape.”
