On March 15 Alliance of Lima appealed against the decision of Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) before the Arbitration Court of Sport (THE) to reschedule the game Sporting Crystal until the 3rd date of League 1 Betsson 2023. The decision of the highest Peruvian soccer entity was announced on February 21 after the Victorian team failed to show up to play against the sky blue team amid a dispute with the federation rights.
Alianza Lima will be hoping for a positive decision to play the game and pick up the three points in their quest for the three-time national league title. For this reason, they appealed the decision before the CAS with the aim of overturning the FPF award. However, the final sentence could last more than a year, according to Marcelo Bee Sellares, an Argentine lawyer specializing in sports and administrative law.
“The appeal before the Alianza Lima CAS, aimed at overturning the FPF Disciplinary Committee’s decision forfeiting the game against Sporting Cristal by WO, could take more than a year,” Bee Sellares posted on his Twitter account . However, he pointed out that this duration could be shorter as long as both parties “agree on an expedited procedure”.
In light of this Blue and White Board objection, Alianza Lima now has ten business days to present any of its defenses and arguments that may support the motion.
