Quebec Summer Festival 2023: The Cowboys Fringants Return to the Plains – Le Journal de Québec

Though Karl Tremblay is still battling cancer, the Cowboys Fringants will reconnect with the Plains of Abraham on one of two carte blanche the summer festival has offered to Quebec artists.

Programmer Louis Bellavance says he has been assured the popular group’s singer will be able to take the stage on July 13.

“I’ve been told he’s responding very well [aux traitements] and that the protocol he currently follows is much less invasive. He is very happy with it as it gives him more energy and less impact on his health and performance. »

The Cowboys Fringants will obviously not be at their first Plains.

They played there regularly as part of the FEQ, especially in the first decade of the millennium.

Their last concert on the main stage on a carte blanche basis dates from 2017.

For their reunion with the public of the Plains of Abraham, they are paired with a legend, Robert Charlebois.

Originally, the FEQ wanted them in 2024, and it was Robert Charlebois who was to inherit one of the two Quebec carte blanche (the other belongs to the Trois Accords).

“Eventually the Cowboys came back and told us they have big plans this year and 2024 is uncertain. We didn’t have another evening available so we turned to Robert’s team. We either made them together or we dropped one of them. Everyone loved it,” says Louis Bellavance.

Several Quebecers

Several other Quebecers will be able to discover the Plains scene in a first part. In particular, we will see Sara Dufour, Bleu Jeans Bleu, Naya Ali and Les Shirley.

In the Parc de la Francophonie there will be even more.

Among the headliners of the second phase we find Cœur de pirate, Milk & Bone, Roxane Bruneau, Bobby Bazini, Souldia, Les Louanges, Québec Redneck Bluegrass Project, Patrice Michaud and Jonathan Roy.
