On Monday, the 32-year-old right-hander played five innings in a 5-0 win for Canada’s only major league baseball team against the Detroit Tigers in Florida.

Gausman gave up just three strikes that day to provide security for his rivals. He also had six strikeouts. Since the beginning of the preseason calendar, he has passed 18 opponents in 13 and two-thirds innings of work.

However, it was Adam Cimber who earned the win against the Tigers, he who was on the mound during the seventh inning. It was during this engagement that the Blue Jays’ offense earned their first points. Wynton Bernard hit a double that allowed Vinny Capra to step on the plate.

Moments later, Bernard stole home plate to double his team’s lead. Devonte Brown was ninth in the other winning heats. He kicked the ball wide while teammates PK Morris and Cade Doughty were already on the trails.

The Blue Jays face the Baltimore Orioles again on Wednesday.
