In the current debate in several countries over the short video service TikTok, German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser sees no basis for a blanket ban on the app.

More than a billion users
A ban on the service, which is particularly popular with young people, is being discussed in the US. TikTok has over a billion users worldwide.
TikTok is increasingly under political pressure because the platform is owned by the Chinese group ByteDance. TikTok is the only online platform that is also successful in the west that does not come from the US. There is growing concern in the US and Europe that Chinese authorities and secret services could use it to collect user information or influence users.
