And the internet raged. «#BREAKING: Donald J. Trump was arrested in #Manhattan this morning!» reads a post accompanied by a picture. It seems real, and so Eliot Higgins, founder of the Bellingcat platform for investigative journalism (the same one that accused Putin’s spies), had artificial intelligence tricked into imagining the different moments of the arrest in order to understand the extent to which they can confuse us. Surprise: Many photos are credible and therefore many believed them to be true.
