Four people arrested for vehicle theft in Sherbrooke

Four people were detained in Sherbrooke in the Eastern Townships overnight for a vehicle theft on Wednesday night.

Sherbrooke Police Service (SPS) patrol officers were called at around 3:30am on Rue de L’Ancienne-Carrière, where suspects were about to steal a vehicle.

At the scene, police located two suspects in a 2021 Jeep Wrangler, which they eventually arrested, along with two other accomplices who were near the crime scene.

The four suspects, ages 19 to 23, from Laval, Montreal and Terrebonne will be questioned later in the day, SPS said.

Car thefts usually happen at night, according to police, who are urging citizens to keep car keys away from the home entrance to “avoid suspects being able to copy them using a computer system,” he also advised.
