Excessive Rain Causes Riots in Argentina

Rain was heavy and excessive in provinces in central and northern Argentina, including Corrientes, Santa Fe, Córdoba and Entre Rios. In its bulletin last Monday, MetSul warned of the risk of rain between Argentina and Uruguay. The rain is very good after a long period of drought, but the very high accumulation brought inconveniences and damage. According to data from the Monte Casero aerodrome, province of Corrientes, it rained 113 mm yesterday. At the Santa Rosa de Conlara airfield in the province of San Luis 99 mm. At the Concórdia airfield in the Entre Rios province, it collected 72 mm. At Sauce Viejo aerodrome 70 mm. On March 22, it rained heavily with 79 mm at Marco Juarez Airport, Córdoba province and 71 mm at Venado Tuerto, Santa Fe province. According to the network of meteorological stations in San Luis, 241.7 mm has been measured in the Merlo region in the last 24 hours, while the annual average is 7o0.

DANGER OF HEAVY RAIN STILL FOR THE NEXT 48 HOURS

Instability will continue over the next few hours over central and northern Argentina, with renewed heavy to torrential rains expected in the region. Meteorological forecasts from different models predict a risk of heavy and heavy rain in the provinces of Entre Rios, Santa Fé Cordoba, La Rioja and San Juan, with accumulations that could range from 50 to 100 mm, with occasional higher amounts. There is also a risk of isolated thunderstorms, storms and hail. Some of this instability will affect departments in central and northern Uruguay. Over the weekend, the passage of a cold front combined with a lowpressure center will lead to a new wave of storms and rain that could be bulky. More unrest could break out between Argentina and Uruguay, as we warned earlier this week.

Argentina’s National Meteorological Service has warned the central and northwestern provinces of the country of the risk of storms and heavy rainfall in the coming hours this Thursday.
