Arrested in Montreal after stealing a car in Ontario

A man suspected of stealing a vehicle in Ontario on Wednesday night was arrested after a police pursuit in Montreal.

At around 4:30 a.m., Sûreté du Québec (SQ) patrol officers saw a suspicious jeep on the Ile aux Tourtes bridge. After checking, they found that the driver did not match the vehicle owner’s description, according to Agent Audrey-Anne Bilodeau, spokeswoman for the SQ.

Patrol officers tried to intercept him, but the motorist fled on Highway 40 towards Montreal.

Police lost sight of him before relocating him as the driver merged onto Highway 13 southbound.

He eventually lost control of his vehicle and continued his escape on foot on Highway 13.

The City of Montreal police dog handler was called in for backup and the suspect was eventually apprehended not far away.
