Elvira Ramos, an employee of the Generalitat Valenciana, during her testimony in the trial of Francisco Camps this Thursday.
Elvira Ramos, a longtime collaborator with the Generalitat Valenciana, has confirmed this Thursday that Álvaro Pérez, known by the pseudonym El Bigotes and a trusted man of the Belt conspiracy in that municipality, has been “in and out of the offices” of senior officials of the regional administration regularly. Testifying as a witness at Francisco Camps’ trial over the PP politician’s alleged involvement in the corrupt network run by Francisco Correa, the worker has confirmed that the officials were even “given” an order that they give to Orange Market, the company , which took advantage of the property to land in this autonomy: “You had to contract with them and you had to contract with them,” he pointed out.

The anti-corruption prosecutor’s office has thus influenced his thesis: that the corrupt network moved at will through the highest levels of the Generalitat, which he allegedly accessed thanks to the help of then-President Camps, for which he demanded two and a half years in prison for maneuvering to place orders with Correa’s companies. The Public Ministry has reminded Ramos of her testimony in the inquiry when she said it was “vox populi” that these people met at higher levels, from director generals and ministers; and that there was “pressure” to get a belted contract “from the President, I think.” “Which president?” Public prosecutor Concepción Nicolás asked him this Thursday. “De Camps” ratified the regional worker, who added that El Bigotes went “specifically” to the office of Víctor Campos, then regional vice-president.
Ramos became secretary and set the agenda for Salvadora Ibars, the former Director General for Institutional Funding. According to the Public Ministry, Camps “given verbal instructions to Ibars” to hire Orange Market for “work related to assembling the stand for large projects” at the Fitur 2009 tourism fair.
The visibly irritated Camps defense did not like Ramos’ words. The politician’s lawyer even yelled at the witness, after which the court ordered him to calm down and asked him to moderate his tone.

This Thursday’s session also left contradictions among some witnesses. Jorge Antonio Lamparero, former Director General for Environmental Quality of the Generalitat and former Valencian MP of the PP, has assured that he knew El Bigotes – “he was a picturesque character, we all knew him in Valencia” – but he added that he never did did have any connection with him and that he did not know that he had ended up in the community through the orange market. However, Francisco Segura, one of Lamparero’s direct reports, has stated that his former boss “introduced them to the Orange Market company” and that they “held meetings” and “ate” with people from that company.
Oral consideration now enters a new stop. The trial, with Camps and 25 others on the bench, will resume on April 18 with more witnesses to testify.
