It’s over for Al Capone. The curtain fell abruptly on the musical starring Bruno Pelletier, which was staged at the legendary Theater Folies Bergère in Paris.
The Al Capone show, which has been on air since last January, was supposed to stay there until May 12. However, the production announced its premature end this morning without giving a specific reason.
“With emotion we interrupt Capone. We had just announced the renewals, but our joy was marred by unexpected events. We are all the sadder not to find the audience, given that this show has been sublimated by its performers with rare talents, and this adventure has taken place permanently in harmony, lust and pleasure. […] Our disproportionate excitement, our happiness suddenly dimmed,” read a brief press release shared on the show’s Facebook page.
50,000 spectators
The decision appears to have been made quickly as Bruno Pelletier was on the set of TV5 Monde in France last weekend to promote the show. The Quebecer also used this presence on the air to talk about his bio. It was time recently launched in France.
Al Capone’s musical, which also starred Roberto Alagna and Anggun, was eventually seen by 50,000 spectators. An album of songs from the show was also released.
