Hollywood has often asked major music stars to play theme songs for its films. The magazine billboard has just released its list of the 65 Favorite Movie Songs of All Time, and it includes several big hits.
For starters, Quebec diva Celine Dion ranks 20th in this list thanks to “Because You Love Me,” a love song written by Diane Warren for the film Intime et Personal (1996), in which brought together the screen Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert Redford. On the other hand, the title song of the film Titanic, My Heart Will Go On, performed by Celine Dion, was excluded from the Top 65 compiled by Billboard. However, the song, a huge international hit, had won the 1997 Oscar for Best Original Song.
It is the theme song of the film Endless Love performed by legends Diana Ross and Lionel Richie, which tops the charts. Released in 1981, the track spent 27 weeks on the Billboard Most Streamed Songs chart that year, including nine weeks at #1.
In second place is Canadian rocker Bryan Adams with his ballad Everything I Do, written for the 1991 film Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves.
Not surprisingly, the disco hits written by the Bee Gees for the film Saturday Night Fever are doing well on the Billboard charts. How Deep is Your Love ranks third in the rankings, while Night Fever and Staying Alive are 6th and 10th respectively.
Other major musical must-haves include the theme song for the Rocky 3 sports drama Eye Of The Tiger, which peaked at number 4 on the charts, and the love song I Will Always Love You, performed by the late Whitney Houston in the film The Bodyguard (Bodyguard), who appears in the 7th place.
