March Madness 2023: UConn switched hotels ahead of Sweet 16 after finding ‘dirt, vomit’ in rooms, according to report – CBS Sports

Recovery is key for a collegiate basketball team trying to make the Final Four, and that makes good accommodations crucial. Unfortunately for UConn, the team discovered some sub-par conditions when they arrived at their Las Vegas hotel ahead of their Sweet 16 match against Arkansas.

According to CT Insider’s David Borges, the huskies arrived in Vegas on Tuesday and their hotel rooms were a disaster. Whoever stayed in the rooms before UConn had too much of a good time. According to Borges’ report, the huskies found “dirt, vomit…and worse” in the rooms.

Luckily for UConn it didn’t have to spend a lot of time at this hotel. The NCAA, which sets up lodging for the teams, quickly moved the huskies to another hotel.

Despite UConn being a little harassed just two days before the Sweet 16, sporting director David Benedict downplayed the situation to Borges.

“We don’t want to make a big deal out of this,” Benedict said. “Everything went well.”

Hopefully, UConn’s quarters stayed free of bodily fluids and interesting smells as the team prepared to face Arkansas on Thursday night. The Huskies and Razorbacks will compete for a spot in the Elite Eight at 7:15 p.m. ET on CBS.
