Stand up snowmobiles now available in store

Officially launched a year ago by a Saguenay company, the new standing snowmobiles are now available on the market.

However, the first units were delayed in delivery by Widescape.

Asian-made vehicles were stranded at the port of Montreal in January for failing to meet a specific Transport Canada requirement.

Widescape has re-done its homework and successfully met the challenge of finding a solution that conforms to the standards. A cushion has been added to the back of the ride platform.

The company’s CEO, Christian Chantal, understands the disappointment of customers who were hoping to enjoy their new toy in the winter. He admits that some of them preferred to cancel their order, but in his opinion this is a minority.

“We’re challenging the industry standards that have been in place for decades,” said Mr. Chantal.

The machine intended for off-road enthusiasts has aroused curiosity. The Widescape is available from approximately 60 Canadian retailers.

The concept developed in Saguenay is expected to make a breakthrough in the USA in the coming months.
