In the audios released by the press, Boluarte assigns his current accuser, the teacher Maritza Sánchez, to handle the logistics of a trip inland, such as providing tickets and gathering materials for the election campaign.
He claimed it was legitimately coordinating a trip to the southern Andean city of Cusco, and he instructed Sánchez to tactfully consult whether the hosts would pay for the plane tickets.
The investigative journalistic Internet portal El Foco confirmed that the tickets for Boluarte and his team were paid for by Henry Shimabukuro, an informal adviser to former President Pedro Castillo, who incidentally agrees with Sánchez that the current President, as a vice presidential candidate, received secretly raising funds from a businessman.
The president denied that she handled any of Castillo’s 2021 campaign funds, although she has been credited in various media outlets as being in charge of the finances of the proselytization and a bank account used to receive donations was in her name.
According to Boluarte, he only made two trips, one to the south and the other to the north, because his campaign role was to campaign for votes in Lima, Castillo’s most difficult place.
“The lady who publishes the audios knows more than anyone else, like those who accompanied us in the campaign, that we never received a single sol (Peruvian currency) because the campaign was presidential elections,” he said.
In an earlier statement, he claimed that Sánchez and Shimabukuro were deftly brought into his environment by Castillo, but that he separated them, believing them unsuitable, and disputed the validity of a notebook the teacher was issuing with Boluarte’s instructions.
Assuring that he never had an election financier, he claimed that Sánchez will certainly continue to broadcast audio recordings of his conversations with her, all legally, adding that his accuser was acting on Castillo’s behalf.
Despite the text message audios and dialogue, he insisted on being close to Sánchez, claiming he had no advisor, secretary, or assistant during the campaign.
“This audio confirms that Ms. Boluarte requested that her personal assistant, who is now revealed to be incorrect, handle her hotel and tickets with a third party, so it is very rare that she says she hasn’t received one from anyone sun,” commented analyst Rosa Maria Palacios.
He added that Shimabukuro proved the payment of tickets to Cusco for Boluarte and eight companions, and it is strange that the President says she never met him when the character visited the Government Palace, where she had her office as Vice President .
