“From fight to fight, I’m adding things to my toolbox,” the Quebecer commented after beating Mexico’s Laura Avendano Mondragon. I don’t want to skip steps. Going into a world title fight tomorrow would be doing me a disservice. If a proposal arrives in 2024, we will look at the possibilities.”

The athlete from Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac, who emerged victorious after a unanimous decision by the jury thanks to three 60-54 cards, celebrated that result twice over when her Mexican opponent was 6.6 pounds overweight at Wednesday’s weigh-in arrived. With her wallet cut by 20%, the Mexican boxer had to meet a new limit of 140 pounds for the day of the super featherweight fight. It was also the first defeat for Mondragon (1:6, 2 knockouts).
