Released in February 2023, the Galaxy S23 is one of the best smartphones from Samsung thanks to a beautiful design, an excellent screen and great performance. Today it’s available for €679, up from €959 when it launched last month.

The smartphone series Samsung Galaxy S23 replaced the very good S22. This new series corrects the shortcomings of its predecessor by abandoning its Exynos and instead surrounding itself with a more powerful ally: the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This change makes the difference and was confirmed during our test. The Galaxy S23 is a smartphone that we can highly recommend, especially since it costs 280 euros less today than when it was released.
What we like about the Galaxy S23
- Top design and screen
- Excellent performance with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
- Great photographic versatility
Instead of starting at 959 euros, the Galaxy S23 (8 + 128 GB version) is now displayed at Cdiscount with 914 euros, but thanks to the code GALAXIES23 and a trade-in offer of 100 euros, Samsung’s premium smartphone only costs 679 euros.

Samsung Galaxy S23 at the best price?
A design that is still as neat as ever, without forgetting a raised screen
Like its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S23 shows exemplary surfaces with rounded corners, low weight and a compact format. The S23 is easy to handle and its screen is retina-friendly. Its 6.1-inch AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution (2,340 x 1,080 pixels) is a pleasure. It offers excellent brightness, true-to-life colors and good responsiveness thanks to its 120Hz adaptive refresh rate.
The look on the back isn’t the same as last year. The rectangular block, rolled up at the edge, disappears, making way for three separate cameras whose integration is sublime. The photo configuration is as follows: a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 10-megapixel x3 telephoto lens. The recordings are less saturated and therefore more accurate in terms of playback. During our test, we noticed that focus was rather moody in x3 and portrait mode was noisy in low light. The Galaxy S23 still excels when it hits the mark, regardless of the sensor used.
A small smartphone that offers big advantages
The South Korean brand has corrected the situation for this S23 series: Europe actually benefits from a Qualcomm chip. Under the hood, the Galaxy S23 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 paired with 8GB of RAM. The observation is clear, this chip offers better graphics performance and energy efficiency. So the Samsung smartphone clearly has the shoulders to withstand resource-intensive applications such as 3D games, but beware, it tends to heat up after around twenty minutes.
After giving the S22 a score of 5/10 in the autonomy part, the Galaxy S23 is a better student and gets a score of 7/10. Thanks to the new Qualcomm chip, the phone can easily last a day. Of course it depends on your usage, but for such a compact phone it’s a good score. On the other hand, you have to be content with a 25 W block for charging – not included in the scope of delivery.
