Daisy May Cooper’s proud mum says her daughter is destined for Hollywood after she was linked with a life-changing role in the next James Bond film – but admits the comedian herself laughed at the suggestion.
Speaking from her home in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, Gillian Cooper told Web the actress was a “fantastic choice” to play spy boss ‘M’ in the 007 franchise, a role previously occupied by acting heavyweights Dame Judi Dench and Ralph Fiennes played fact that she has yet to be officially addressed.
And she also revealed that her recent weight loss, prompted by her divorce from husband Will Weston, is more due to her hectic work schedule than the speculated ‘keto diet’.
Speaking of her daughter’s fame and James Bond connections, Gillian says: “Daisy is everywhere at the moment, I’ll search my phone and her picture will come up. She was with me this morning and we saw the story on the news that she’s playing ‘M’ in the new Bond films and she thought it was hilarious.
And in a touching tribute to her daughter, Gillian says Daisy’s transition from comedy star to blockbuster film actress was always planned because performing is in her genes. In fact, her brother Charlie, her This Country co-star and co-writer, is just as talented.
She explains: “I’m incredibly proud of Daisy and Charlie. Both of them are just amazing.”

Daisy May Cooper and her brother Charlie Cooper bagged the Comedy Screenplay award at Virgin TV’s 2018 British Academy Television Awards for “This Country”.
‘She didn’t hear anything. Where does it come from? I have no idea.
“I don’t know if anyone suggested her name, but she would be perfect and it would be a really different direction for her and for the Bond films because it would bring back a bit of humor.
“She would be a fantastic choice for them if they did. But it’s the first time she’s heard of it.”
The Sun revealed this week that Daisy is “in talks” to play the iconic role, and script consultant Phoebe Waller Bridge is said to suggest the This Country star to add a comedic touch to the film.
“We just knew she was going to do that.
“It runs in the family, her father Paul used to be in a band, Trevor, Daisy’s and Charlie’s uncle is an actor and her grandfather, Bob Cooper, was a GP but also a writer who wrote a lot of stories and was popular on the anus -Dinner circuit, lectured and wrote groups and was also a very smart man.’
Since her split from her husband and father of two, Will Weston, in July 2021, Daisy has undergone a physical transformation and lost several stone in weight.
She’s flaunted her new character on social media and most notably at the Brit Awards last month, when she presented a gong on stage alongside her writing partner Selin Hizli.
The two actors rose to fame as siblings Kerry and Kurtan Mucklowe in the mockumentary This Country

Gillian confirms that Daisy initially lost weight on the low-carb keto diet, but her busy work schedule helped keep the pounds off.
Also, the fact that she’s single for the first time in her adult life means she’s taking care of herself more.
She says: “Daisy has had a little image change lately and looks great, but I don’t think she’s on the keto diet anymore, I think she’s just working so hard.
“She’s being pulled in a lot of directions, which is amazing, but that means her feet aren’t really touching the ground.
Before and after: Daisy May Cooper has sported an incredible body transformation since splitting from her ex-husband. Recently, Daisy posted a sexy mirror selfie in which she wore a busty bodysuit with a plunging neckline and high legs that left little to the imagination (pictured right and left in May 2019).
Proud mum: Gillian said she was thrilled with her daughter’s recent success and said she looked “amazing” after her stunning weight loss. Gillian and Daisy May are pictured together
“I don’t know what triggered the change of image, I think it’s her first time performing alone. “She’s always been in a relationship and this is the first time she’s been single in a while.”
Gillian admits her daughter gets “a fear of fame” and suffers from “cheater syndrome”, which never ceases to amaze her given her unique talents.
She says: “Daisy is someone who does his own thing a lot. She has always been absolutely unique, even when she was little.
“But sometimes she worries about fame. It’s not easy for her, because she’s someone who sometimes has a certain “impostor syndrome”. She shouldn’t because she’s absolutely brilliant.
“We think she’s a genius, but you get the fearful side. People think she’s always so confident, but she basically sees herself as a mother first and that’s what matters most to her. Everything else comes afterwards.”
Daisy splits her time between London and the Cotswolds, where she is a mother to two children, daughter Pip, four, and son Jack, two, with ex-husband Will.
She has no plans to move to Hollywood anytime soon and plans to continue ministering to the youngsters.
Gilliam added: “There are no plans yet to go to America – she has the kids so needs to be with them, they are her main priority.

‘Daisy is mostly in London but she comes back to Cirencester for the children.
‘She likes to be there for you. It’s been tough because when she’s not there for her she hates it, she misses her so much, but she’s a single mum trying to do her best at work and right now everyone’s talking about her, so she must try to capitalize on that.’
Gillian says Daisy’s success is truly deserved.
She admits her daughter has had some tough times in the industry after attending drama school RADA, but is relieved that the world has finally been able to see her talents.
Gillian, an artist who earns “a bit of pocket money” drawing scenes from This Country, explains: “Daisy has always been one of those appealing characters, I mean if you talk about the X-factor, she’s got it on it.
“It’s taking me a while to realize that after years of wanting it to happen for her, it finally happened.
“She went to RADA and then there was this gap when things didn’t happen, but we realize that all of these things happen for a reason, because if it hadn’t happened that way, she wouldn’t have written ‘This Country with Charlie.’ , and Charlie would have been. They weren’t there, so they’re on this journey and it’s almost a divine journey, but I’m just so glad she’s out there and people can see the real way she is.
“She’s just a funny, beautiful person and I just want the world to know that.”
