Much drama has happened in Sainte-Alice during the seven seasons of L’Échappée, whose grand finale airs on TVA this Monday.
Initially borne by lead writer Michelle Allen for four seasons and by Mylène Chollet for the last three, the soap opera has made its characters and viewers see all colors.
Several murders fueled the conspiracies, including those of Agnès Meilleur (Évelyne Rompré) at the very beginning of the series, Esther Sauvé (Isabelle Brouillette) and police officer Marie-Louise Cyr (Bianca Gervais), to name a few. Not to mention the presence of dangerous serial killer David Lelièvre (Patrick Hivon) and sectarian guru Jean-Simon Cardinal (Steve Gagnon), who have eroded the index of happiness in the Bas-Saint-Laurent sector in recent years.
Of course, “L’Échappée” needed police guards and educators in the center L’Échappée, which in the meantime had changed from a youth center to a center for young offenders, with intensive care.
Departure of Julie Perreault
Also, the voluntary departure in 2020 of actress Julie Perreault, who played lead character Brigitte Francoeur, marked a turning point in the series. For their part, fellow castmates Anick Lemay and Sophie Bourgeois have seen less screen presence in recent seasons.
First, in September 2016, we witnessed Brigitte’s return to Sainte-Alice. We later learned that she fled her home village after being raped by David, an unwanted relationship that resulted in Jade (Charlotte Aubin).
Hundreds of thousands of spectators prepare to say goodbye to the characters created by Pierre-Yves Cardinal (Richard L’Espérance), Bénédicte Décary (Macha Labonté), Marie-Soleil Dion (Sophie Cartier), Félix-Antoine Duval (Xavier Étienne ) were embodied. , Chantal Fontaine (Gisèle Bayeur), Stéphane Gagnon (Marc Dubé), Rémy Girard (Clément Francoeur), Marie-Claude Guérin (Sonia Moreau) and Jean-François Nadeau (Robin Despaties).
Finally, it’s worth noting that several young actors shone in L’Échappée after winning crucial first roles. Such is the case with Laurie Babin, Émilie Bierre, Thomas Boonen, Victoria Bouchard, Mylia Corbeil-Gauvreau, Kelly Depeault, Mathieu Drouin, Étienne Galloy, Sam-Éloi Girard, Éléonore Loiselle and Devon O’Connor.
TVA has yet to confirm which series will be slotted into L’Échappée next fall.
The soap opera, produced by Amalga in association with Quebecor Content, ends this Monday at 8 p.m. on TVA.
