Uruguayan President meets with agenda of Iberoamerican Summit

According to Chilean President (on his Twitter account), Gabriel Boric, it was a “good meeting” with his Uruguayan counterpart.

“We talked about the relevance of integration, trade exchange, strengthening democracy and respect for human rights. In addition, we reaffirm our interest in candidacy to organize the 2030 World Cup,” added Boric.

The appointment relates to the proposal to share the soccer World Cup, planned for 2030, in several South American countries, 100 years after its inaugural edition in Montevideo, where Uruguay became world champions.

During the day, the Uruguayan President also met with the King of Spain, Felipe VI.

Both participate in the Ibero-American Forum, whose main themes are the digital economy and the protection of the environment.

Strikingly, the event attended by the Uruguayan ruler is little known here even on the official website of the presidency (https://www.gub.uy/presidencia), which silences his participation in the Ibero-American Summit .
