Billie Eilish could have shone, but Lollapalooza deleted the singer Splash

Billie Eilish wrapped up the first night of Lollapalooza 2023. The singer rocked a crowd at the Interlagos Circuit in São Paulo on her first visit to Brazil. She shone until Lolla herself put it out.

In the middle of the presentation, the singer noticed a problem: the screen on the left side of the stage froze, and then went off. “Did you see that?” she asked, laughing at the expression she had as the picture froze.

But that was the first of many problems: A few minutes later, the righthand screen also went black. So also the one in the Lolla Lounge. So at that point there were two choices: either you were glued to the railing and you saw the singer, or you didn’t watch the show.

The Lollapalooza audience, who number in the (many) thousands, couldn’t see the singer’s show for six minutes, more than an entire song. Despite this, the singer paid tribute to Brazil during this period.

As if that wasn’t enough, the screen at the back of the stage that served as the backdrop also went out, leaving only the spotlights for illumination. Even after the restoration, the screens went off and on again for a few minutes.

The thing is, it totally took the attention of Billie Eilish, the star of the night. You can’t ignore the very big technical error. The audience also thought and complained a lot about not being able to do what they paid for tickets, nothing cheap: to see the singer, literally erased.

Still, Billie Eilish put on an incredible show. She performs super friendly and energetic, jumping and dancing and even risking a breakup on stage.

The audience sang in unison the artist’s hits, one of the greatest musical revelations of the 21st century to date. The pandemic advanced her visit to Brazil and fans were really looking forward to this moment. Despite many problems, it was an unforgettable night.

And Billie did everything she could to make her special: She sang the track “Wish You Were Gay” after almost nonstop requests from fans. It was the first time she had performed the track in three years.

Here’s how Billie Eilish was left in the dark despite the inexplicable Lollapalooza blackout. She and the audience exchanged a lot of passion: They shouted “eu te amo” and “I love you” and she recognized the importance of Brazil: “The first fandom I had was Billie Eilish Brasil.” And she still remembers one of the first inquiries in her career: “Come to Brazil” or “Come to Brazil”. She came and made history at Lolla.
