When Cédric Boileau (Peter Miller) appeared in Indefensible, we found him friendly, charming, very different from the arrogant Me Legrand who occupied the office before him.
But we quickly realized that Me Boileau wasn’t the nice lawyer we thought he would be. His way of treating Tatiana as his personal secretary disgusted us, but we weren’t at the end of our surprises.
Tensions quickly built between him and Marianne, then he faked a truce to better manipulate her. He convinced her to join him on a sensitive cause, promising his client that she would be easily influenced and docile. Her way of talking about the young pro behind her makes us smoke in our living room.
He even tries to convince Leo and André that Marianne is unpredictable, angry and immature. Me Boileau would love to work with the Lapointe-Macdonald company and squeeze Ms Desjardins out of the back of her hand with it.
Obviously, the defender is a self-centered and harmful misogynist. The way he treats women is very disturbing, especially in this post-Metoo era where these sexist behaviors are no longer tolerated. Unfortunately, despite everything we’ve learned as a society in recent years, there are still Me Boileaus working behind the scenes to discredit women in the workplace.
At least we can say that this character is responsive and adds a little spice to Indefensible!
Note that there are 20 episodes left until the end of the first season of the Pixcom-produced daily. Will we see the fall of Me Boileau by then? We really hope so!
