The meeting, which will be attended by the member countries of the so-called Iberoamerican Community of Nations, aims to achieve concrete results that will have a positive impact on the quality of life of Iberoamericans.
The above was expressed by Ibero-American Secretary General Andrés Allamand in his speech at the opening ceremony held last night at the Santo Domingo Fort in the Colonial Zone.
Allamand pointed out that this will be a summit dedicated to people and aimed at achieving concrete results and in order to achieve them, the Ibero-American Environmental Charter, the Food Security Strategy and the Charter of Digital Principles and Rights will be given to countries for consideration submitted .
For his part, Dominican President Luis Abinader stressed to those present the unity that exists between the countries of the Ibero-American community, not only because of language, history or geography, “there are more ties that unite us than those that divide us “.
And he expressed how “divine providence placed the Dominicans at the center of the continent, the link between Europe and the New World. For this reason, today, at a crucial moment for humanity, when we are facing a change of ages, paradigms we took for granted, it is necessary to search for a possible utopia.”
The President also recalled that the region faces common challenges that require common responses.
He concluded: “We still have a long way to go and along the way, as leaders trusted by our peoples, we must develop the ability to transcend political differences and engage in honest and friendly dialogue. “
As the culmination of the inauguration, an artistic show of great color and quality was presented, which was applauded by the participants.
After the first activity of the Summit, the Heads of State and Government attended a dinner hosted by the Head of State of this nation for their attending counterparts and heads of delegations and guests.
This Saturday, the event will be held at the Dominican Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Congress Center, in which the Heads of State and Government will intervene, and later the Summit documents will be approved, including the Santo Domingo Declaration.
