President of Russia talks to his counterpart from Türkiye

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Türkiye counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone call on Saturday in which they addressed “topical issues of the Russian-Turkish partnership in various areas,” according to the Press Service of the Russian Federation Kremlin.

Through the official statement, it became known that the leaders “expressed satisfaction with the positive dynamics of trade and economic relations, the successful implementation of joint strategic projects in the energy sector, including the supply of gas and the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant. ” in Turkey.

The Turkish leader thanked Russia for the assistance provided to his country following the Feb. 6 earthquakes, including the opening of a Russian field hospital in Hatay province, one of the hardest-hit.

“It was also agreed to work on ways to organize the delivery of building materials from Russia to restore the destroyed infrastructure and houses,” the Kremlin said.

Regarding the extension of the Black Sea Initiative for the export of Ukrainian grain and the unblocking of Russian food and fertilizer exports, Erdogan welcomed Russia’s decision to extend the agreement by 60 days.

“At the same time, an understanding was expressed on the principled intention of the Russian side to achieve the full implementation of the second part of the above-mentioned “package” agreements: the removal of obstacles to agricultural products from Russia,” the text reads.

Both leaders stressed the importance of continuing the process of normalizing Turkish-Syrian relations, and in this regard President Erdogan emphasized the role played by Russia as a constructive mediator.

For his part, the office of the Turkish dignitary reported that he had “reaffirmed the importance of ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine as soon as possible through negotiations.”
