After years of trash talk and bad blood, David Benavidez and Caleb Plant will be in the ring as they battle for Benavidez’s interim WBC super middleweight championship. Saturday’s duel will serve as the main event of a Showtime four-fight pay-per-view card live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Benavidez is undefeated in his pro career, while Plant has lost just once, suffering a late injury loss to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez that cost Plant his IBF title. The winner of this interim title fight will be one of Alvarez’s obligatory challengers.
Benavidez and Plant have had bad blood since 2018 and both sides have stated that the fight is unlikely to resolve any issues.
