The Bal de la Rose is one of the major social and charity events in the Monegasque calendar. The royal family usually travel there in large numbers and this year Princess Caroline could once again count on her children and stepchildren to walk the red carpet in Bollywood-themed outfits. Prince Albert II also attended the ball.

On March 25, 2023 the 67th edition of the Bal de la Rose took place. The Bal de la Rose is a charity ball organized each year in aid of the Princess Grace Foundation. The President is Princess Caroline, the eldest daughter of the late Princess Grace. Initiated by Princess Grace of Monaco in 1954, the Bal de la Rose is still a major social event alongside a charity night.

Last year, after years of absence due to the health crisis, the ball celebrated its big comeback. Every year the evening has a theme and offers great decoration and entertainment. In 2023, the Bollywood theme was chosen by Princess Caroline of Hanover. Once again, Princess Caroline has entrusted Christian Louboutin with the task of decorating the Salle des Etoiles at Sporting Monte-Carlo.

Princess Caroline, 66, really is the star of this evening. Their four children never miss the Bal de la Rose and usually come with their spouses. Andrea Casiraghi, 38, arrived at Sporting Monte-Carlo with his wife, Tatiana Santo Domingo, 39, who appeared to match the dress style of the other women in the family. Tatiana wore a silver sequin dress by Jenny Packham, one of the Princess of Wales’ favorite labels.

Not surprisingly, Beatrice Borromeo, wife of Pierre Casiraghi, 35, and Charlotte Casiraghi, 36, paid tribute to the fashion house that dresses her. Charlotte Casiraghi, Princess Caroline’s eldest daughter, is an ambassador for Chanel, while her sister-in-law Beatrice, like Pierre, is the face of Dior. Charlotte wore a full Chanel look, including earrings and a clutch. The silver dress is from the new ready-to-wear collection 2023.
Beatrice Borromeo, 37, was the only one wearing a two-tone black and gold dress. This more extravagant Dior dress came with a gorgeous headpiece. Princess Alexandra of Hanover, 23, who arrived with her companion Ben-Sylvester Strautmann, had played the card of sobriety in an elegant black dress. Last year, Princess Caroline’s youngest child caused a stir in a dress reminiscent of a candy cane, while the evening was themed around the 20’s.
Like last year, Princess Charlene was not at the ball while her husband turned up to support the event organized by his sister and encourage the kitten to climb. A raffle is organized in the evening to help people in need and disadvantaged children.
The Société des Bains de Mer (SBM), organizer of the event, explains that the ball “brings together the elite and international high society for the first major social event of the year. For one evening, it illuminates the Principality with splendor and light, immersing it in an atmosphere of splendor and celebration.” Everyone wants to be part of this evening, and its “aura is such that it attracts many anonymous people who share the dream and the want to experience the magic of Monaco at their fingertips”.
