Dany Turcotte returns to his controversial tweet after the Les Olivier Gala

Former lunatic Dany Turcotte was back on the set of everyone talks about Sunday evening to present his new documentary, The Last Closet: Aging Gay, but he also returned to the subject that had been discussed all week.

As Lepage, visibly happy to see his old friend reunited, jumped right into it, Dany has shed a lot of ink over the past few days over this tweet:

So the host used Turcotte’s passage on Everyone’s Talking About It to come back to the tweet everyone was talking about.

Here are some quotes to remember:

1. “I thought it was really funny that the comedy act was better before [de Arnaud Soly et Virginie Fortin].”

2. “Every gag in the gala was good, but it was the build-up that made me say it. And when I saw that there was no tribute to Jean Lapointe, that really struck me.

3. “I didn’t send that tweet, it was my heart.”

4. “We can’t eradicate all generations… Let’s say we go to the twins, all generations are represented. I want all generations to be together. That an older man can present a trophy with a younger one, that an old man makes jokes about the new generation. Wouldn’t that be cute?”

5. “When I sent out that tweet I knew it was a minefield, but at the time I believed it. I still believe it. It’s fun that it was a debate and that we can talk about it.

6. Returning to his years as a jester to Everybody’s Talking About, Dany replied: “It was a different time. I was encouraged and paid by the production to make these kinds of jokes/comments [parfois méchants ou malaisants]. Comedians are representative of their time.

7. “The blood type and Lévesque and Turcotte, it wasn’t bad. There might be a sensitivity there for me too, because the 1990s were the years when I was with my girlfriend Dominique and we were comedians. For me it is sacred. So I found it sad that we’re eradicating all of that.

8th. “It’s been 20 years since I’ve been in the comedy business. I watch it from the outside. But I am sure that next year they will invite comedians from other generations. I wouldn’t have tweeted for nothing.”
