Simon Kean is still in the plans

Yan Pellerin caused a stir last week when he said he was willing to offer Simon Kean $100,000 for a match against Alexis Barrière.

The colleague of the “Journal de Montréal” Mathieu Boulay reported in his column of March 21st, a few days before the victory of K.-O. de Kean (23-1-0, 22 KOs) over American Eric Molina (29-9-0, 21 KOs).

The two pugilists from La Belle province are not at the same stage in their careers as Kean has just opened the doors to a fight of international stature.

“Barrière is new to the industry, he has plenty to eat before finding himself in the same ring as Simon. I understand why his promoter made that exit, I think he’s having trouble selling tickets. We have other fish on our side,” said Kean’s promoter and president of Eye of the Tiger Management. [EOTTM]Camille Estephan, after his boxer’s victory.

Pellerin, the president of New Era Fighting, reconsidered his proposal.

“I have absolutely nothing against Simon Kean. I hope he doesn’t mind. I advertise, he said. I sincerely believe we’re in a better position to beat Simon Kean than they think. If my release can encourage Camille to finally record and produce this fight, I’m very open to doing so at EOTTM. That’s how much I believe in my boxer!”

“I even think that this fight could even become two or three fights,” Pellerin continued. It can be profitable for everyone, but especially for boxers. I urge Camille to think seriously about this.
