The controversial aristocrat behind one of the magnificent mansions used in the Netflix series Bridgeton died after being prescribed too much insulin at the hospital, according to the coroner’s report.
On February 27, 2021, 66-year-old Simon Howard died at York Hospital after being found unconscious at his home with extremely low blood sugar a few days earlier, The Independent reported.
The aristocrat died “because of the recognized aggravating effects of excessive insulin use on pre-existing natural diseases and brain damage after a fall,” the coroner said in his report, according to the English media report.
The latter suffered from “unstable diabetes” and epilepsy, according to a survey in Northallerton, North Yorkshire.

A few months before his death, the 60-year-old had obtained an outright dismissal from York court for indecently assaulting a young girl in 1984.
However, according to The Independent, he would have been deemed unfit to stand trial due to brain damage following a fall in 2020 while intoxicated.
The aristocratic family runs the manor house of Castle Howard, called Clyvedon Castle in the Bridgerton series, which is the home of the Duke and Duchess of Hastings, Simon and Daphne.
