Mayssa Ferah, the reporter in charge of crime and police affairs, dominated the Relève category for her work and the “humanity” she exudes, explained host Marie-Louise Arsenault during the show, which aired on Télé-Québec on Wednesday night.

This special event aimed to highlight the work of Quebec media artists and craftspeople over the past few months.

For his part, Stéphan Bureau was named Media Personality of the Year. In an interview with Marie-Louise Arsenault, the Le Monde à l’envers host admitted that he wasn’t “crazy” to receive such a reward. “Our job isn’t to be the center of attention,” the TVA headliner said.

Invited to compare TVA and Radio-Canada, Stéphan Bureau said TVA has strong DNA “that we understand pretty quickly, which isn’t necessarily the case [celui] by Radio Canada”.

The host admitted he didn’t have total freedom in Upside Down World, a program in which Quebecor big boss Pierre Karl Péladeau was very involved. Could he invite Julie Snyder, the businessman’s ex-wife? It’s a fight he doesn’t want to fight “for obvious reasons,” the interviewee replied. “Have we thought about that this year? Apparently. […] But I think it would have been clumsy,” added Stéphan Bureau.

As reported by La Presse last year, Le monde à l’envers was scheduled to air on TVA in Spring 2022, Stéphan Bureau confirmed. However, because the team was “not satisfied,” the broadcaster chose to delay the launch by a few months.

Will TVA grant a second season to the TV show, which draws between 500,000 and 600,000 live viewers every Friday night? The host claimed he didn’t know the answer.

For each

The awards were split between different media groups.

The international reporting award was given to Noovo Info journalist Louis-Philippe Bourdeau for his work in the war zone in Ukraine.

The Journalistic Research Award was presented to Brigitte Noël and Pasquale Turbide by Radio-Canada for their report on the Robert Miller affair, presented on Enquête on ICI Télé.

The media failure award was given to CAQ Minister Jean Boulet for his flawed statements on immigration. Angie Augustin, aka Citron Rose, won Content Creator of the Year and Ivanoh Demers, Photographer of the Year.

The winners were chosen by the show’s Dans les media team, made up of Vanessa Destiné, Arnaud Granata, Philippe Léger and Monic Néron.

In the audience award for the three topics that, according to a Leger poll, would have taken up too much space in the media space, the pandemic came first, Harry and Meghan second, then Ukraine third.

There will be a seventh season in the media in September, Marie-Louise Arsenault announced at the end of the show.
