Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2023 APRA Music Awards after failing to crack the Hottest 100
Daniel Johns was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2023 APRA Music Awards.
The 43-year-old Silverchair frontman won the bid for his solo single “I Feel Electric”.
Other artists vying for the honor, voted for by 3000 local songwriters, include DJ Flume and Julia Jacklin, rockers King Stingray and the late Archie Roach.
Johns’ nomination comes as a surprise, as the song didn’t score highly enough to crack Triple J’s Hottest 100 Listeners poll earlier this year.
Flume, 31, real name Harley Edward Stritt, was nominated for his hit “Say Nothing,” a collaboration with Australian singer MAY-A.
